Molybdenum disilicide(MoSi2) heating element/heater:
Mosi heating element is a kind of resistance heating element basically made of pure molybdenum Disilicide. In oxidizing atmosphere, a layer of compact quartz protective film is formed on the surface of Mosi 2 element owing to the high temperature combustion, which prevents Mosi 2 from continuously oxidizing.

Chemistry Character
MoSi2 heating element is used in the high temperature under oxidizing atmosphere. It will form the SiO2 film which can keep the element from being melted. During the oxidizing process, the SiO2 protecting film is formed again when the element continues to be used. The MoSi2 heating element must not be used in the temperature between 400C and 700C for a long time, otherwise the element will be cremated under the strong oxidizing function in the low temperature.

The radiation coefficient of silicon molybdenum rods is slightly softened at high temperatures (above 1500 degrees), and hard and brittle at low temperatures. In order to avoid stress during temperature changes and facilitate the thermal expansion and contraction of components, it is best to use a free vertical hanging installation method. The dismantling and replacement of lifting components is also relatively convenient, without waiting for the furnace to cool down, and can be heat exchanged.
When hanging silicon molybdenum rods, the following precautions must be taken:
1. The furnace lining material should use corundum bricks, and the mass fraction of Fe2O3 should be less than 1%, because it interacts with the protective film to form a molten silicate, thereby accelerating the damage of the components.
2. The hot furnace gas leaked from the cold end not only increases the heat loss of the furnace, but also may burn out the conductive tape clamps and lead clamps. Therefore, it is best to use asbestos clamps.
3. As silicon molybdenum rods are brittle materials with low bending strength and cannot withstand impact, protective measures should be taken during installation to prevent breakage. When connecting the conductive tape, the asbestos clamp (or ceramic clamp) must be installed first, and excessive force should not be applied when clamping.
4. Install the silicon molybdenum rod into the plug brick. In order to avoid the mechanical stress caused by loading and unloading movement, the plug brick shall be a separate brick made of foam corundum brick.
